Which way are you voting? Keep in mind, these results are obviously unofficial, as we have many former players who read these boards.
Personally, I say keep the server, I prefer the lower population option.

I won't vote for either because I don't want to see our server overrun with a bunch of kids and I have no desire to go to another server....so neither option works for me.

Option 3, keep the $40 a month access requirement, but end the Customer Service?
I know these are all pretty poor choices, just curious to see what the rest of the crowd thinks about options moving forward.

I voted to close the server and have people move.
Stormhammer was a unique experience. Stormhammer without the gm events and customer service etc just isnt stormhammer. I would much rather a clean severance than to have a pale shadow of the original sticking around for no particular reason.
With the endgame now almost entierly instanced, there is very very little incentive for people to move servers anymore except to play with friends. I fear that even if they /did/ keep stormhammer open as a 'normal' server, it would remain mostly a ghost town, and be merged with another server a few months down the road and lose it's name anyways.
I know people were flaming me in game when i said i voted to close the server, but most of them dont understand. I've been on the server since the very day it opened, i've put my heart and soul into trying to hlep keep stormhammer great. If they're finally going ot kill stormhammer, and ending legends service is killing it no matter how you look at it, then i want final closure. I dont want the name floating around. I want people who have the 'of stormhammer' suffix on their name to be a unique community who can reflect back on their time with the legends service, and not to become another dime-a-dozen suffix. All other servers that have been merged and closed have at least that common courtesy. If they're closing stormhammer, please, give us that, it's the least they can do.
If they want another "new server" to allow transfers to, give it a new name, dont use our name which over the last 4 years has come to mean something very special to many of us who play there.

I think there are other players who have been on the server since the day it opened who might want to see the name continue on, who still consider Stormhammer a home. I think we saw during the server merges last year that people really do give a damn about their server name.
Legends will die next year. Hopefully Stormhammer will not.

I have thought a lot about the options the server might have, if it were an option to do something else with the server other than the above mentioned.
I really doubt any idea other then those two will be entertained nevertheless I have been going over it in my head a million times, coming up with a million different options, none of which seem to turn out who we envision Legends as it is now, but for those of us who want to keep the server (and not see it overrun by a bunch of kids)
Maybe have 2 lead GM's on the server, start a new sort of guide program in which players of the server participate....a sort of elected council to handle the in game issues. This would free up the extra GM's they are paying and hopefully still satiate the need for higher help and answers. Then again that leads to the problems of favoritism (of any elected person who might be in a guild, and their friends on the server [since they don't allow people to be a guide on their own server for that reason] and numerous other things) Something like this would take a lot of work to even implement.....
Another thing would be to add more guides/senior guides to the server, freeing up the GM's to do events and what not thus keeping the content of the server. Either keep the price as it is or only allow people to come to the server who have had or currently have Legends subscriptions and drop the price to that of a normal server. Though I don't know if there is really any way of tracking who has had a subscription to Legends. And with the extra guides on the server they wouldn't need to staff as many GM's which would lower their cost of running the server. Honestly I think just having Deodan and Lydrea to be our GM's they would do everything in their power to keep Legends the way it is now.
Those are just a couple of the ideas I have thought of, both seem to have their own problems but then again so do the current options we have to vote on.

I voted to close the server. If Stormhammer remained after Legends ends, it will have the smallest population of all the EQ servers. This won't last long. Many players and guilds will move to the server in search of uncontested mobs and zones. Those of us that remain on Stormhammer will have no controll over who moves to the server so we will have no idea what the server will be like. Whatever happens, it will be negative compared to what we have come to expect with Legends.
I would rather research the other servers and then move to an existing community. Even if the entire population of SH moved to one of the other servers, it would make almost no difference to them so we can be pretty sure what we are getting at least in the near term.
Finaly, Stormhammer is and always was the Legends server. If Legends ends, Stormhammer should end too. Tharkis made some good points about this.

Without the GM events Stormhammer would just be a wasteland of emptiness with little to no activity. Why don't you all just pick another server and move there...start a guild.
For those of you who haven't played on another server in a long time...you may want to consider just transferring elsewhere. There is still a huge population of people on other servers and people aren't immature like they are in WoW (huge generalization, but its true.) You'll have a real Bazaar to shop at, real groups everywhere you want to go, plus new people to meet.
I don't play anyway so I don't know why I care anyway =P

I would vote for closing the server and giving the members of SH the option to /movelog. This would permit friends and any active guilds to stay together after SH is a memory. PoT-GoD-MPG trials- Anguish and above are all instanced zones. EP plains are relatively empty and not really contested on any of the servers I have characters on. To believe there would be a mass influx of people willing to pay the cash, to move here would be a mistake. Let the members of SH keep the stormhammer title, give them all a unique item to post in there magellos, and let SH be remembered for the great server it was a long time ago.
